Overseas Packers & Shippers

This was the inbound handling company for my container from the UK. They kept in touch, advised when Australian quarantine needed to clean and disinfect a couple of things, as they were dog related it was not unexpected. Customs/import process was relatively quick, however delivery took some time which was not solely due to this company. Container released before I arrived back in the country, shortly after arrival I had to go to Melbourne to get my dogs from quarantine. As it was Christmas and New Year stayed to celebrate with friends, so wasn't back until into the New Year and then had some house improvements to get done. As the delivery was to rural Qld it's not something they do every day, as they would in the city, so I was waiting on their area delivery to be rostered. The delivery team did a good job. Rain threatened so everything was off loaded from the van before being unwrapped etc. They worked hard and had everything in place quickly. Although it's taken the best part of a year since I first made shipping enquiries in the UK to delivery in Qld, the process has been really been trouble free. No breakages, nothing missing.

I booked with Overseas Packers and Shippers in October 2012 for shipment of personal goods on the next ship from Brisbane to New York.  At time of booking I as told the next ship was leaving in and around December and that it was 80% full.  Overseas Packers and Shippers coordinated uplift of my goods in November in order to meet the ships departure. The day after uplift I called to discuss the arrival date and was told more than likely early February.  in January I called to confirm a more firmed up arrival date and found out my goods weren't on the ship.  I spoke to the owner who was completely unapologetic about it and even stated that they didn't make any guarantees about dates.  Perhaps not dates, but my agreement and therefore contract with them -as confirmed through multiple emails- was on the basis that my goods were to be on the NEXT ship.  The shipping company they contract with on the arrivals end confirmed that they did originally receive my customs paperwork for the ship in question but then it was withdrawn.  After multiple phone calls and emails to which I received no further confirmation of a departure date I finally lodged a complaint with the QLD Office of Fair Trading.  My goods were on a ship shortly afterwards and were finally delivered to my apartment in NYC in mid May 2013, 5 1/2 months after they were picked up.  This was completely unacceptable service. I would NOT use them again and cannot conscionably recommend them to anyone else. .

After moving from Denmark to Australia and being without our household things for 4 months, Overseas Packers & Shippers was in no hurry to deliver our items. After calling them 2 weeks ago we found out that our things had passed Australian customs; they have been sitting in Overseas Packers & Shippers warehouse for at least 2 weeks, waiting to be delivered to us. The warehouse is in Brisbane and we live in Brisbane so you would think that this should not be that difficult. We have called them 4 times now to push them to deliver the items. They are supposed to arrive today. I was supposed to receive a call last night giving me a time when they would arrive but did not get the call. I hope that are things are going to be delivered today as we've got family coming to help us unpack. Overall a very frustrating experience, especially when you've been "camping" in your apartment for months waiting for basic things such as your bed, cutlery and toaster to arrive.

I hired Overseas Packers and Shippers to move my belongings from Australia to New York.  They weren't the cheapest I received a quote from, I selected them based on timing for shipment.  I was told my goods would be on the next ship, arriving in January or February which coincided with my moving into a new apartment. I coordinated with the company for pick up of my goods in time to make this next shipment.  I only found out after I contacted the company in January to get a better sense of arrival time that my goods were in-fact bumped to the following ship, departure time unkown.  My goods did not arrive until May in the end.  The company repeatedly denied that they had made any commitment to delivery date, which is correct, however, they made a commitment to my goods being in the next shipment, which they weren't.  The partner shipping company in the US which received the goods confirmed I was in fact booked on the prior ship, but the booking was retracted.  Overseas Packers and Shippers were not only completely unapologetic about having not delivered on our contract, but were completely indifferent to having essentially lied to me about their service, having not delivering on their contract and also making no efforts to expedite shipment of my goods including relocating to another container to get it on the water faster.  I directly spoke with the owner, Penny McCluskey, who was outright rude and dismissive of the inconvenience it caused on my end not having my household goods for almost 5 months.  The customer service was beyond appalling, it was simply unacceptable.  .

Chose to support this local company for our most recent move from Brisbane to France. We have moved over the world many times and the service of this company was absolutely appalling.
The Managing Consultant dealt with our consignment until we paid. We did not hear from her again despite numerous emails(Never answered) and countless phone calls from France (surprising she was never in the office nor returned our calls) wondering when our belongings would arrive. Quoted 10 - 14 weeks and they arrived in the 19th week. A long time, and we would have coped with that (have too) if she had the courtesy and decency to communicate with us. The Managing Consultant alone, let staff and company down severely. I am really aghast as to how they have remained in business and how she still has her job. Just appalling service!!

Moved from Australia to Denmark.
We chose the complete service of O.P. & S to handle packing everything themselves. The team came a half day late and so didn’t finish packing everything onsite, instead loaded the unfinished remainder of our household into the back of their truck and took it back to the depot to pack the next day. When we received the load in Denmark (6 weeks late) we found that a large portion of our items were not properly packed, some ridiculously so, causing widespread damage.
e.g. They dismantled our antique dining table with a hammer or some sort of blunt object and sent it as individual pieces, stuffed a large microwave in a cardboard box with absolutely no other packing material (microwave was smashed by the time it got to us), A guitar and an expensive mandolin shoved into a carton with a dismantled mountain bike (no other packing material).
Also a number of items, which were taken from our property in Australia to pack the day after, were 'lost in transit'. After a month or so they found 1 of the missing packages in another country in Europe but to date have not found any more. The owner Paul McCluskey takes no responsibility for the incompetent packing or the missing items whatsoever.

Do yourself a favor, choose another freight company.

Well from our experience at the hands of their alleged owner “Paul McCluskey” we were bullied and held to ransom. We had paid for a door to door service, but Paul Mc hijacked our belongings and would not release nor deliver them, until we had given into his demands and paid him extra costs. He bullied us into submission leaving my wife in tears.

When our stuff was finally delivered, 2 weeks late, it had been thrown into a container (repacked in their warehouse) . Many items were damaged as a result whilst several boxes were missing.

We made a claim but true to form the extortionists wormed their way out of accepting any responsibility.

Looking at their high number of negative reviews, on this site and several others, our advice is to avoid them at all costs.

I must start this out by saying the guys that came and packed our house and how well they packed everything was very good, I cannot fault them at all. My problem arises from once the container was within the USA, the hidden charges started to arise. Even though my contract states that delivery to my destination address is included, it apparently didn't include the trailer that the container goes on to get it there. This and an apparent storage fee even though I requested no storage and was picked up one day from customs and delivered the next. In all there was $900 in hidden fees, and Overseas Packers didn't care and said if you want your stuff you have to pay and if you don't pay then an additional $146 per day needs to be paid until delivered. I was very disappointed that once they have your money, they wipe their hands of you, so please beware when using this company. 
I have used other companies in the past and have never run into a situation like this. This clearly goes to show you that they were very competitive in price for a reason as they tack on more charges at the end to make up the difference.
